CC Cleaner
CC Cleaner is a vital piece of software for computer cleansing. CC Cleaner formally known as Crap Cleaner has up to February 2010 had 400 million downloads, and having used the product myself I can personally vouch for its performance.
CC Cleaner is easy to install and during the installation process you are given several options. The options first displayed are the usual: “Add Desktop Shortcut”, “Add to start menu” etc. However additional features to select are whether to “Add Run CC Cleaner option to Recycle Bin contact menu” and to “Add Open CCleaner option to Recycle Bin context menu”. Both of these options add an option to the right click of your recycle bin the run the CC Cleaner, or to open the program. This is particularly useful when cleansing the recycle bin as well as other disks on your PC.
Once installed the CC Cleaner displays an option screen. The default will be the Cleaner screen marked by the symbol of a paintbrush. On the screen you have two tabs, one for windows and one for applications. On both tabs you have the multiple options to select. The windows tab shows places to clean like internet explorer, windows explorer and system. The applications tab shows programs you have installed on your computer for example Firefox, adobe readers, Java plug-ins etc. With both of these tabs the options are checkable or not. So you tick which one you want CC Cleaner to clean, if you wish to skip certain areas of your computer, you can simply leave the options unchecked.
Once you have selected everything you wish to clean you then need to press Analyze. This will analyze everything you have selected to be cleaned and show useful information as to how much and what data you will be removing. This is normally shown in Kb/Mb/Gb depending on how much data you have stored on your PC. When you are satisfied with what CCCleaner is going to cleanse you simply click Run Cleaner. Usually this process then takes a couple of minutes to complete depending on the size of the data.
CCleaner is useful for removing temporary internet files, cookies, history, last downloaded locations from internet explorer and other web browsers. However what CCleaner is particularly useful for is cleaning registry and temporary files from windows. Files you didn’t even know existed like memory dumps, windows log files, clipboard, chkdsk file fragments and many more.
Whilst being useful for removing files you didn’t even know existed, CC Cleaner can also empty your recycle bin, can uninstall programs and perform system restores. It pretty much is an all singing all dancing crap remover. After using CC Cleaner I have managed to clean and free up about 2Gb worth of data that is useless and just clogging up my computer. Since using CC Cleaner my computer has also started to run a lot faster without all these temporary files clogging it up.
One of the best things about CCCleaner is that it is totally free of charge. You can download CCCleaner for free from a US based server at the link at the bottom of this article.
